Motion Capture
From WWiki
Please contact us for motion capture rates and consulting. WorleyWorks does consulting work for various projects on a contractual basis. With each capture session WorleyWorks provides consultation, systems technician, capture space, and full mocap suits. We provide each client with a customized motion capture experience to ensure quality results.
WorleyWorks uses a 21 camera PhaseSpace optical motion capture system. The system is capable of simultaneous 2 person capture. The system tracks each marker uniquely eliminating marker swapping, captures at 120 frames per second and has the ability to track and record fingers. While the camera system is usually based in our studio, it is completely capable of going on location, and since the markers are LEDs, they operate in most daylight conditions. Additionally, the red, visible markers can be swapped out with infrared LEDs.
Motion Capture, sometimes referred to as mocap or performance capture, is the process of recording a performer's motion which is then used to "drive" a digitally created character. Once the motion has been captured by our system it can be applied to any character with any rendering style. Since the capture is done in an immersive volume this performance can be digitally viewed or "filmed" from any angle. Recorded performances can later be edited or refined with key frame animation.

Work Flow
PhaseSpace Master
Master collects XY information from each camera and solves for marker position in XYZ. This solution is provided up to 480 Hz, though we are usually solving at 120 Hz. Master can record session takes and save them as .RPD files and as .C3D files. .RPD files are native PhaseSpace Master files and contain all of the raw data. The C3D format is a public domain, binary file format and preserves the marker data. It is supported by almost all 3D Motion Capture System manufacturers, as well as other companies in the Bio-mechanics, Motion Capture and Animation Industries.
Live marker data or prerecorded .RPD files can stream from Master into MotionBuilder using a plug-in.
Autodesk Motion Builder
Marker Data streams from MotionMaster to MotionBuilder live or from previously recorded performances. In MotionBuilder the markers are applied to an intermediate skeleton known as an Actor. The actor is used to organize all of the individual marker movement into a constrained skeleton system.
Exporting
The following companies support the MotionBuilder FBX file format:
3DE, 3DSite, @Last Software, Agence Darwin, Apple QuickTime, Ascension Technology Corporation, Attitude Studio, Autodesk, A&G, Soluzioni Digitali, Big Bear Entertainment, Di-O-Matic, EI Technology Group, Eovia, eyeon Software, Hexagram, Maxon, Midway, Motek, NaturalMotion, NewTek, Noitaminanimation, NXN, Okino, QEDsoft, SideFX Houdini, Softimage, Strata, TurboSquid, VirSys, Inc., Wings3D
Additionally, Motion Builder Imports and exports: Biovision (.BVH), Acclaim (.ASF/.AMC) and Motion Analysis (.HTR) skeletal data formats and Motion Analysis (.TRC) or Vicon (.C3D) motion capture data formats.
